Order Diptera

Dipteran - two-winged flies. Taxonomists believe that this group is the most developed. These insects have one pair wings. The second pair was reduced. The dipteran is various flies, mosquitoes, etc.

Order Diptera is a group of insects which plays an important part in the mankind live. False stable fly, mosquitoes, gadflies, horse-flies, etc. are carriers of diseases. The flies make danger to agricultural plants. At the same time, without flies all the Earth could be jammed with decaying remains of plants and animals. There are parasitoids among flies, which contaminate and kill pests. There are predators which catch even their own brothers.

Photo 5, 9, 11, 27, and 29 – syrphid flies: samples of mimicry, when flies are similar to bee or wasp. When syrphid flies are flying, they are very difficultly distinguished from wasps. Photo 9 – (Eristalis tenax). Photo 27 – (Syrphus ribesi), its larva eats aphids (see the page Order Homoptera), according to the reference data, the larva sucks about 100 of aphids per a day. Photo 29 – syrphid fly Helophilus trivittatus. All the syrphid flies are good pollinator.
